原作の「火車」は、最後まで佐々木希演じる関根彰子＝新城喬子は登場せず、最後に、彼女と本間刑事が出会う、という構成。つまり、佐々木希の演技力はハナから考慮に入れず、新城喬子が持つ「美人であること」という記号性だけを最大限に生かすための起用だったのである。
